Following a successful one-month exhibition, Doha College Level A students are currently venturing on an Art Expo at the Ramada Plaza hotel this time catering to a wider range of audience.

The display comprises photography, digital video pieces, paintings and drawings completed during the students’ two-year course. The coursework by AS and A2 students revolves around the concepts of ‘links and connections’ and ‘transitions’.

Very creative, interesting and sometimes bizarre pieces are all showcased for art lovers to feast their eyes on. Delving on the idea of ‘transitions of colours and movements’ Pamela Jaimes Camargo uses tints of very close proximity as she recreates how parts of a machine function individually and as a whole. Working on the concept of ‘links and connections’ Camargo boldly captures on lens images teeming with hues, expression and character using the human face and objects that are distant yet correlative.

In his photos, Ehab Sayed, ambitiously draws out common characteristics from totally different subjects by combining the images thus achieving an arresting effect truly deserving for a magnum opus; examples are merging avocado fruit and ice cream, turtle and leaf, and bag and shoe.

Jack Stanley, endeavours to lift up through his photographic artworks the grandeur of labour in constructing impressive edifices in Doha. He tries to apprehend moments of drudgery of the ordinary unrecognized hands of labourers toiling to erect magnificent buildings adorning Doha’s skyline. Entitled ‘Who We Are’, Stanley’s seven-frame photos show different faces of labour during the workers’ actual tasks. His photo-collage dubbed ‘What We Built’ ‘links and connects’ the labourers to the products of their toil.

Running this entire summer, Doha College students’ exhibition is set to captivate people of aesthetic sense.
