Nurturing the gardeners of tomorrow

We invite your kids to learn all about nature and plants at the Education City Microfarm. Preschool gardener’s academy is a series of 12 weekly sessions combing education with adventure through stimulating activities whilst fostering valuable life skills and meeting new friends!

Workshop Experiences:

1. Gardening & Propagation: Learn the fundamentals of gardening, from planting seeds to understanding the life cycles of plants. Each child will also cultivate the art of propagation, creating new plants from cuttings to add to their personal collection.
2. Hydroponics: Discover soilless cultivation with a homemade hydroponics project. This water-based method of growing plants offers a unique peek into a different kind of gardening.
3. Insect Investigations: Dive into the world of insects, understanding their role in pollination and decomposition. Build bug hotels, conduct scavenger hunts, and even start a simple ant farm.
4. Native Plant Focus: Develop an appreciation for local flora by creating a mini native plant garden, learning the importance of local biodiversity along the way.
5. Rainwater Collection: Emphasize the importance of water conservation through a rainwater collection project, reinforcing environmental consciousness.
6. Bird Feeders: Create bird feeders, encouraging local avian diversity and providing a rich opportunity for birdwatching and species identification.

Included:

• All tools and materials.
• Preteens will accumulate cuttings, plants, and seeds to take home after each session and work on a personalized nature journal.

Workshop Details:

• Level 1: Beginner program, emphasis on building a solid understanding for the kids who are new to the subject.
• Age group: Addressed to ages 8-13 years old.
• Date: Every Tuesday, 4-5 p.m. from 9 Jan – 2 Apr 2024. (Excluding National Sports Day on 13 Feb)
• Location: Education City Micro Farm

Enrollment Package:

• 12-week workshop package: 75 QR per class
• 6-week workshop package: 75 QR per class
• Single session workshop: 90 QR per class
