Leadership Skills for Children

Teach your children valuable life skills at your kitchen table in this free interactive and engaging online session developed specifically for children with special needs ages 8 to 11. Every session is packed with engaging content and calming tools to help your child build confidence and resilience and develop a growth mindset in an interactive, serious and fun way. This session is brought to you by the UK-based Role Models (www.rolemodels.me) Online Life Skills Courses for children. These courses focus on helping children to deal with anxiety, build their confidence and nurture a positive outlook.

The session will be conducted online via Zoom. The sessions are the same. Please register for one only.

Digital Addiction

In this seminar, you will discuss the concept of digital addiction, the role of digital media design in facilitating it, and futuristic tools and policies to combat it. "Digital addiction" is defined as a problematic usage of digital media characterized by being obsessive, excessive and hasty, leading to harm of users and their social circle. This program is a part of the Cyber Safety initiative conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. This program will be conducted in collaboration with HBKU and the Ministry. This initiative aims to increase ethical responsibility in the digital world and raise awareness of cyber safety. Dr. Raian Ali is a Professor in the College of Science and Engineering at HBKU. He sits on the editorial board and organizing and program committees of leading conferences and journals in the area of information systems and social informatics.

The Power of Readiness

Join QNL on Instagram Live for an interactive lecture, "The Power of Readiness" presented by Dr. Amal Al-Otaibi. The lecture will identify the concept of emotional and mental readiness and its degrees and types. Dr. Al-Otaibi will also shed light on readiness of the heart. Dr. Al-Otaibi is an Associate Professor at the College of Science and a member of the training faculty at the College of Basic Education at Kuwait University. She is also a personal advisor and a collective awareness guide for Kuwaiti and Gulf leaders. Her research focuses on the science of behavior, self-discipline and self-development.

Readings From QNL Manuscript Collection: Plagues and Epidemics in the Works of Arabic and Islamic Scholars

COVID-19 is not the first pandemic to overrun the world. In fact, human history has witnessed many outbreaks of plagues and health and environmental crises. The most famous of these is the Black Death, known by Arab and Muslim scholars as the "Black Plague" or "Sweeping Plague." In this session, Mahmoud Zaki, the Library’s Manuscript Librarian, will read extracts about plagues and pandemics from the writings of Arab and Muslim scholars. This is the seventh in a series of lectures and talks providing readings of rare historical works from our Heritage Library's collection of manuscripts. The series is a great opportunity to explore the rich collection and its masterworks, along with the Heritage Library's digital and virtual services.
